Welcome to the Secrets of Magic Page. If you are like most people, you came here as soon as you could. That’s great. It demonstrates your desire to learn how to do magic. But don’t forget about the tricks that you received in your kit. They can be really powerful when you practice them well and create an interesting presentation. What you say is as important as the trick.
Have fun here though. And come back again, because this page will change to make room for new Secrets of Magic.
Superman Eyes
Have a card selected from a deck of cards and then returned. The deck is put into its box and by just touching the box to your head, you can name the chosen card.

SECRET:
You need to cut a hole in the bottom right corner of the back of the card box. This allows you to see the selected card as in the illustration.
Performance
After the card is selected from the deck and viewed, have the card placed face down on the table. “I have not seen the card,” you say. Then place the deck on top of the selected card. “To make sure I can’t get a look at it, I’ll place the cards into the box,” you say. Pick up the deck and slide it into the box so that the selected card is in the little “window” at the bottom of the case. Now pick up the case and hold it to your forehead to “get a mental image of the card,” you say. In reality, this allows you to see the card in the window. Name the card and all will be astonished.
Pattern Premonition
Using red and black cards from a deck, place12 cards on the table in the same pattern you see in the diagram below. Then tell someone to think of any one of the BLACK cards. After telling them to make several secret random moves, you are able to tell them which card they have moved to.
SECRET:
Here are the moves. If you follow these moves exactly, no matter where your assistant starts, he will always end up on the Middle Card of the Bottom Row.
1. Tell your audience member to pick any black card.
2. Tell him to next move UP or DOWN to the nearest RED card.
3. tell him to move LEFT or RIGHT to the nearest BLACK card.
4. Tell him to move DIAGONALLY To the Nearest RED card.
5. Tell him to move UP or DOWN to the nearest BLACK card.

Six Shooter
You correctly predict which pile of cards someone will choose
SECRET:
Place the four sixes on top of your deck of cards before you do this trick. You also need a pen or pencil and a piece of paper.
Remove the four top cards from the top of your deck of cards (These are the four sixes you put there already) and lay these cards face down in a pile in front of the audience. Then remove six cards from the deck and place these cards in a separate pile.
Tell the spectator that you read minds and tell them which pile they will choose. Write “You picked the six pile” on your piece of paper and fold it and put it right alongside the cards. Tell the spectator to choose one of the piles and then read the paper. No matter which pile is chosen the note is true. One pile contains the four sixes and the other pile contains six cards. After the trick is finished put both piles on top of the deck. Do not let them see both piles of cards.
Easy Coin Vanish
A coin is placed onto a table and mysteriously vanishes.
SECRET:
Put the coin onto the table with your left hand. Say something like “check this out” and reach over with your right hand. Then press down on the coin with your middle, index and third finger with your hand and arm parallel with the table.
Slide the coin towards you remembering that it should be completely covered with your fingers. Slide the coin off the table so it falls on your lap without the spectator seeing. Do this in one, quick, natural movement. Touch your thumb to your middle finger as if you are picking up the coin as it reaches the edge of the table.
Keeping your fingers still closed, stare at where the coin should be as you move your hand away from you, back to about 6 inches from where the coin originally was. Start moving your thumb in a circular motion as if the coin is disappearing. Slowly turn your hand around and spread your fingers apart.

The coin has disappeared ???
Now the rest is up to you.
Six Item Prediction
Borrow one item each from six friends (or use any six items available). After looking at the items for a few seconds, you write down the name of one of the items without letting anyone else see. “This is my prediction,” you say while placing the paper face down on the table. Then have someone say a number from one to six. You then pick up the prediction and show your audience that the item at that location is the predicted item. Amazing!

SECRET:
The ‘prediction’ will always be the third item from the left end (Item C in the figure). How you arrive at that item depends on how you count to the item. If the person says One, Two, or Six, then you don’t really count. Instead you begin at item A in the illustration and SPELL to the predicted item. For exemple, if the person says one, then you point at item A and say “O (item A) – N (item B) – E (item C)”. If Five is named, then begin spelling from the right side at item F and move to the left thus ending at item C. For Three merely count to the item. For Four, count to the item, but begin at the right side and count to the left.
Wand From Purse
Tell your friends that you are about to do a magic trick! “Every magician needs a wand,” you say. So you reach into your pocket and bring out a small change purse. You then open the purse, reach in, and magically pull out a magic wand! This looks impossible.

SECRET:
You make a slit in the bottom of the change purse (or you could use a crumpled up bag) You need to be wearing long sleeves and you hide a wand up your sleeve (first picture) Reach into the purse (or uncrumple the bag and reach in), grasp the wand and guide it out of the purse (or bag)
Rising Ring
You borrow a ring and slide it down over your wand (or pencil). As you lean toward the ring, you make a magic gesture and the ring slowly rises up the wand. With another gesture the ring slides down the wand. Remove the ring and return it to the owner.
SECRET:
Attach a three foot long piece of black sewing thread to the top of the wand with scotch tape or Bees Wax. Tie the other end to your belt or a lower button hole. Place the borrowed ring down over the wand and thread. Adjust the length of thread so that when you lean backward and pull your arm slightly foward the thread is pulled and the ring raises up the wand. If you use Bees Wax, you can secretly remove the wad of wax from the wand so that you can hand the wand out for inspection. A pencil also will work in place of a wand.

Coin Under Glass
You place a coin and a glass on a table. Cover the glass with a handkerchief and move it over the coin. Remove the handkerchief and the coin has vanished! Cover the glass again, move it away, and the coin has reappeared!
SECRET
Prepare a clear glass or plastic tumbler in the following way. Turn the glass upside-down and put it onto a sheet of colored paper. Take a pencil, and trace around the outide of the glass. Now cut out the circle you just drew. Put a small amount of glue or Bees Wax (bees wax allows you to remove it again later) on the rim of the glass and place it on the paper cut-out. (If you used glue let this dry at least two hours.) Then cut any extra paper away from the edges.
Now ‘set the stage.’ Put a second sheet of the same colored paper on a table– everything will go on top of this. Place the glass onto the paper upside-down, over to one side. Keep a coin in your pocket and have a handkerchief with you.

Performance
Once everything is set, call in your audience. Say, “I’m going to make a coin magically disappear before your very eyes. Does someone have a coin I can use?” If someone has a coin, use it, but if not, bring out your own and say, “I have a coin with me, so we’ll use this one.”
Put the coin in the center of the paper. Pick up the handkerchief and say, “I’ll use the glass to make the coin vanish.” Cover the glass with the handkerchief place both on top of the coin. Make your magical gesture, and remove the handkerchief– the coin looks like it’s gone! It’s actually hiding under the paper that is glued to the glass. Now cover the glass again and put it away. The coin has returned!
For best results, continue on to Glass Through Table. You’ll see how these two tricks can work together.
Glass Through Table
Here’s a great trick to do following the Coin Under Glass. You have to be seated at a table. Following the previous trick, you place the glass, covered with a napkin back on the table. Then you smash the napkin down appearing to push the glass right through the table!
SECRET
When everyone’s attention is on the coin, you bring the covered glass to the edge of the table. Simply hang on to the cover and let the glass slip out into your lap. (No one is watching you at this point, and the vanish of the glass is complete before anyone even knows it will happen.)
PRESENTATION
At the conclusion of th e Coin Under Glass, tell the audience you will bring the coin back. Cover the glass again, and say your magic words. Raise the glass, and bring it to the edge of the table. While everyone is looking at the reappearance of the coin, merely let the glass slip out of the cover and into your lap. Retain the shape of the glass with the cover though. Now tell your audience that you will make the coin vanish one more time. Cover the coin with the shape of the napkin. Then quickly press the napkin down to make the glass seem to vanish instead.

Reach under the table with your other hand. Pick up the glass and quickly remove the paper cover from the rim of the glass as you bring it out from beneath the table where it ‘penetrated’ to. Now, everything can be examined. Practice this trick well. It really will fool and entertain people if done properly.
